Getting Started with Google SSO in Align
This guide will provide an overview of the Google Single Sign-On (SSO) feature for Align users and admins, explaining how to set up and configure domains to enable SSO for your company.
For Align Users
When your company has enabled Google SSO, you can log in to Align using your Google account credentials. To do this, go to the Align login page, enter your email address, and click “Continue with Google.” You’ll be prompted to log in using your Google account. If you’re already logged in to your Google account, you may be asked to confirm your choice.
For Align Admins
To enable Google SSO for your company, you’ll need to configure domain settings in the Company Settings page. This will allow you to manage user accounts with email addresses belonging to your company domain.
- Add a Domain: Click “Add Domain” on the Company Settings page to open a drawer for adding a new domain. Enter the domain you wish to verify and manage.
- Choose a Verification Method: You have two options for domain verification: HTML or DNS.
- HTML Verification: Download an HTML verification file provided by Align. You’ll need to upload this file to your domain’s website to verify domain ownership.
- DNS Verification: Click the “Get Verification Key” button to generate a TXT record. Add this record to your domain’s DNS settings. Note that DNS changes can take up to 72 hours to propagate.
- Verify and Add Domain: After completing the necessary steps for your chosen verification method, click “Verify and Add Domain.” Align will verify your domain ownership and add the domain to your account.
- Domain List and Configuration: Once a domain is verified or pending verification, it will appear in a list in the domain section, showing its name, status, and configuration options. To change domain settings, click the gear icon. To remove the domain, click the trash icon.
- Email and Password Recovery Settings: Clicking the gear icon will display options for Email and Password recovery. You can allow or disallow password resets and email changes for users within your domain.
- Configure Single Sign-On: On the same settings screen, you can set SSO to be Optional or Required. If set to Required, all users within your domain will need to sign in using Google SSO and won’t be able to use their username and password.
By following these steps, admins can enable and configure Google SSO for their company, ensuring a more streamlined login experience for their users.
