Meet Our Speaker

Jan is the founder and Managing Director of Outfox Ltd.

Jan spent six years with New Zealand’s Government Communications Security Bureau, (a five eyes member), as the manager of the Cyber Resilience Unit for the National Cyber Security Centre. During this time, Jan designed and implemented a research study of 250 of New Zealand’s nationally significant organisations to determine their capability to defend against cyber-borne threats and understand their level of cyber resilience. She also initiated the development of cyber resilience guides to address the deficits found in the study.

Her work at the National Cyber Security Centre was instrumental in alerting the New Zealand government to a deficit of cybersecurity awareness in businesses nationwide.

Her business – Outfox is now laser-focused on fixing that problem by helping SME’s stay one step ahead of cybercrime.

To complement her experience in IT, project management and cybersecurity-related roles, Jan has attained an MBA and several Information Security qualifications including:

  • GIAC Security leadership – GLSC
  • GIAC Critical Controls Certification – GCCC
  • Certificate in Security Management – CISM
  • Certificate in Risk Information Security Controls – CRISC

In her spare time, Jan is a puppy raiser for the New Zealand Blind Low Vision foundation.
